Today is Groundhog Day and Olivier did not see his shadow. Therefore he is no longer listed as part of the cast of Knight and Day on IMDb. It looks as though he’s been replaced by Spanish actor Jordi Molla. I have no explanation for this, only theories which really should not be stated on the front page of this journal.

I have news! Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz were photographed in Long Beach California filming “Night and Day” on January 28. So of course I had to do some hinting to see if Olivier might have been in California as well. Turns out he was not because he was busy rubbing elbows for charity. Fancy people also in attendance included the First Lady of France, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. Also Vanessa Paradis and many French and American actors including Elsa Pataky, Diane Kruger, Joshua Jackson, Lambert Wilson, Milla Jovovich, Mischa Barton, Melanie Thierry, Julie Depardieu, Elsa Zylberstein, Vanessa Hessler, Zoe Felix, Cecile Cassel, Charlotte Valandray, Lou Doillon, Isild Le Besco, Melanie Laurent, Virgine Efira, Mylene Jampanoi and etc. Oh Olivier, how handsome you look with a fresh shave.

Knight and Day is in “post-production”   and Olivier’s character has been named Antonio. Now we have to imagine and dream about what his role will be like in the movie while we patiently wait for more news, promotional photos and more trailers to come out which include characters other than the two main played by Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. It’s taken and unforgivable amount of time for me to cover this film with you but I cannot apologize as you all know what I’ve been up to since the beginning of October. Papa comes first and I know Olivier would agree. I back, computer fixed and ready to go. Happy New Year to everyone! I just want to thank everyone again for their support during the very difficult time my Dad and all of us have been through. He is in the final stage of his recover and we are hoping for a great and healthy 2010. I wish the same for all of you, especially you Squish Boy!



November 19, 2009 was the closest I’ve ever been to Olivier. He attended the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show at the Armory in New York City and I was only about 45 minutes away at Westchester Medical Center with my Dad. While I was at my father’s bedside feeding him supper, Olivier was getting an eye full of this. LOL!!! >>> http://www.styleitonline.com/2506983

 ... You would hardly even have known he was there because he was not on the red carpet perhaps attempting to keep a low profile. He’s not really into all of that hubbub and ferdy feirdy. However a couple shots were taken of him sitting next to Sharen Turney, CEO of Victoria’s Secret. The man sitting at his right is entrepreneur, British industrialist Richard Branson. If Olivier gets to go up in one of Richard’s spaceships (http://www.virgingalactic.com/ ) I will be seriously jealous.

 



Now flipping back one month, Olivier attended the Paris’ annual Nuit Blanche, an annual all-night arts festival. I wish I had picture of that event but none were available for snagging. I’m holding a copy of it in my hot little hands, which just arrived yesterday. Woo hoo!!! I got my copy from Blockbuster online but it’s available is several other places like Amazon and CD Universe. Get a copy! You will not be disappointed in Olivier’s first major motion picture.

I’m just about ready to return to my duties. As soon as a new mother board arrives from Hong Kong for my broken laptop I’ll be good to go. I’m currently writing from a borrowed computer.

I just wanted to give an update on Dad. He’s in the final stretch of his recovery in acute rehabilitative care at a local nursing home very near home. After being in bed for so long and nearly dying four times since October, he’s lost a great deal of muscle and mobility. He will not be HOME for Christmas but … we are allowed to spring him for a few hours on Christmas Eve for family supper and celebration. I can tell you that this will be the most meaningful Christmas of our lives. We've all come through this stronger for the struggle. I want to thank all my visitors and friends for the letters and posts of prayer and encouragement. My Father is truly a walking miracle.

I look forward to life returning to “normal” and going back to making art and sharing news and photos of our beloved Olivier.

I’ve been getting news all morning about Olivier playing in a film with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz called “Knight & Day”. I’m including links. Likely there will be more throughout the day. (Perhaps I can include updates under “the cut”) The movie is to be an action comedy and Olivier is to play a ruthless arms dealer. I’m not thrilled about the bad guy thing again but since it’s a comedy it may be something entirely new for us fans. At any rate it’s better than a poke in the eye and it’s BIG screen!!!

I like my booze strong so I didn’t mix the precious liqueur with champagne, wine or soda. I made a cocktail with 2 shots of gin (from the freezer) , ¾ shot of St. Germain, and ½ shot of lemon juice. Stirred and served in a martini glass. Delicious!

I haven’t got any new news except to report that Olivier was last spotted in Madrid with his brother Vincent on September 24. Olivier’s hair is cropped very short and he is looking fit as a fiddle. I blame myself for this. I haven’t posted in a while so Squishy must have been very lost and confused and … he just wandered off.

So I found out where Olivier had traveled to between California and France this July. He was with two stewardesses!  *giggles madly … I knew it!* LOL!!!   Well ok maybe not “with” them. Just photographed with them while attending The Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom. Sooo busy. An event like this is right up our boy’s alley since he has a love of classic cars and motorcycles.  Isn’t Olivier one of the most photogenic men you know? We all have yet another reason to thank my dear friend Leezadee. Not only has she provided this Live Journal with a paid extension but she has acquired a rare gem which I’d like to share with you today. I have in my possession a rare copy of Premiere Magazine France – July 1994 which I’ve scanned. One page is a picture with out text except for a one liner. The picture was backward so I reversed it. I know my Squishy’s face and that was printed backward. I even checked against the screen cap and was correct. There are extras which I cropped in close for anyone who may not be Photoshop savvy. I cried with joy and when this magazine arrived in the mail thanks to my Leezadee. It made me SO happy. I hope you enjoy it too. My French is not good enough to translate but maybe I’ll find some help.

Here’s a quick news report. Olivier is no longer in California. He was spotted (I assume) at Charles de Gaulle International Airport according to my source ‘leaving’ Paris. He had the hippy thing going on with dark John Denver sunglasses, wearing his signature jeans, boots, leather jacket and scarf. He had his motorcycle helmet and limited luggage, so it looked more like he was ‘returning’ rather than ‘leaving’. I cannot speculate where he is headed, only hope it is to Deauville to film a movie. I don’t know what costume and makeup will make of him if and when they see him as his hair is cropped very close and short as though he’d lost a fight with an angry Flowbee. *shrugs* More news as the Squishy Turns.

Same as my copies of “The Chambermaid on the Titanic” I also have a VHS version of IP5 (IP5: L'île aux pachydermes) and a French only version of the DVD. Why? Because as far as I know the DVDs are not available in the U.S.. Well today I got news that IP5 may soon be available in the US according to this interview of director Jean-Jacques Beineix. Mind you, the article is not dated so I cannot attest for its validity. I am merely passing on the news.

Let’s talk about IP5, which is being released in this DVD set for the first time in the U.S. It was also Yves Montand’s last film.

I really love that film. It’s probably my favorite film. It didn’t get released in the States. I had the chance to have two films that were regarded as two of the best foreign films released in the last thirty years - Diva and Betty Blue. IP5 had the chance to be released in the States by New Line, I think. The man in charge of buying the film was a guy called Ira Deutchman and he was the guy who picked up Diva for the U.S. But I think at that time, he got fired from New Line, and the distribution went with him. That was it. Even Mortal Transfer got a very good reception at The Seattle Film Festival. I thought it was going to be like Diva, and the audience loved it. But it never got a release here. I just don’t understand it.

 There isn’t any further news since my last heart stopping report of Olivier having supper with his fellow motorcycle enthusiast friend Orlando Bloom at The Little Door in Los Angeles but I’m pretty darn sure Olivier is still in California. More news as it developes.



I’m going to tell you about “The Chambermaid on the Titanic” next. It’s my second favorite Olivier Martinez film for many reasons. Again Olivier displays his incredible acting talent through every mood and stage of emotion. He’s the romantic lead in a truly romantic and somewhat erotic story. He doesn’t die … big plus. LOL!!! Watch and see and I know you will agree that it deserved its five stars! It’s absolutely fantastic!!!

I wish I had a trailer for this but for the life of me I haven’t found one yet. I’ll keep looking though. Instead I will post a few clips from the film as we progress through the story.

If you are looking to own the DVD you may have some trouble acquiring it if you live in the U.S. If you are French or Spanish you should have no trouble. My copy of the DVD came from Spain and was purchased for me by a very great friend of mine, Alix. I also have the VHS version which my fellow Americans will be able to purchase online at Amazon. The VHS version has English subtitles. The DVD I have from Spain has only Spanish subtitles.

There are many reasons why The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone is probably my favorite Olivier Martinez movie. It the character of Paulo DiLio as only Olivier can play him. He is handsome and beyond charming, a masterful seducer, prideful and prone to fits of rage, yet at times funny, tender hearted and sweet. It’s not only the lines Olivier speaks when he plays Paulo but his physical mannerisms, the flailing of his arm, the beating of his chest, his proud walk, the I’m going to dance with you now walk, his looks of consternation tempered by his moments of laughter. He sings beautifully in the movie and makes eyes to tempt you to do anything he wishes. I remember the moment I fell in love with Olivier. It was during this movie in the scene when the Countessa introduces Mrs. Stone to Paulo and she asks him, “Have we met?” And he gives her that look… Ooohh buuh buhh … I was hooked.

I’ve got two news items. One I can confirm and one I cannot. Confirmed: Olivier is in California!  He was spotted yesterday June 4, 2009 making trips back and forth to his car, carrying bags full of goodies from Oscar Generale’s Clothing Showroom in Los Angeles. His hair is cropped quite short and he looks in fit condition for whatever California has in store for him. He was wearing his signature blue jeans, sunglasses, black boots and black t-shirt with Vincent printed over his chest. *giggle* For those of you who may not know, Vincent is his brother’s name.

You probably wonder where I get this information from, Olivier. No, I don’t have a tracking devise on you. It’s just the internet. I’m on the other side of the U.S. from you now in the woods of the Adirondack Park in Upstate New York. It’s beautiful here and it just so happens there is a biker convention going on all this week in Lake George called Americade. There are motorcycles of every description here … nearly 100,000 of them and it’s very noisy indeed. 

 The item I cannot help but report because I pray to GOD it’s true but cannot absolutely confirm is that Olivier has changed talents agencies. Last confirmed Olivier was represented by CAA – Creative Artists Agency. There was a report yesterday that Olivier has switched to a VERY reputable agency called TGA - The Gersh Agency.

Last week was a hard one due to family health issues but things are a bit better know and I’m praying will continue to improve. My little German mother has been extremely ill, Squishy. So I was forced to neglect you for a time while our family banded together to be our Mother’s advocate. I bet you got on just fine despite not having news of yourself from this journal. LOL!!! But I do miss you terribly, as do we all. It’s our fondest hope to see you out and about, busy and thriving. I hope that what ever you’re up too you are not neglecting your health, for I learned hard life lessons this past week that will haunt my memory forever. Stop smoking if you can. Drink red wine and so something good for yourself everyday. It IS true it really is true that if you have not your health, you have nothing. God keep you.
